Hausa community in Ekiti State has declared unwavering support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji following his emergence as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 governorship election.
Led by its Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Liman, the community described Oyebanji’s selection as a “natural reward” for his “sterling leadership and uncommon dedication” to the growth and unity of Ekiti State.
Alhaji Liman said the governor’s three-year record has earned him the trust and affection of residents across ethnic lines. “Governor Oyebanji’s tenure has ushered in an era of progress we’ve not witnessed before,” he said, citing achievements in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and human empowerment.
He pointed to the administration’s focus on road construction, urban renewal, and agricultural development as examples of leadership that prioritises people over politics. “His vision has turned promises into tangible results,” he added.
Beyond development, the community hailed Oyebanji’s effort to promote inclusiveness and maintain peace among all ethnic groups in Ekiti. “He has shown genuine concern for every resident, ensuring that no one feels excluded, irrespective of background or origin,” Liman noted.
The group also expressed appreciation for the governor’s appointment of Husseni Bawa as Senior Special Assistant on Hausa Matters. Liman described the gesture as a mark of Oyebanji’s inclusive governance style and lauded Bawa’s service as “a loyal bridge between the community and the government.”
In a firm show of solidarity, the Chairman pledged that the Hausa community across the 16 local government areas would mobilise actively for Oyebanji’s re-election. “We are ready to stand by him again in 2026. The peace, development, and fairness he has brought to Ekiti must continue,” Liman affirmed.
Governor Oyebanji’s consensus affirmation within the APC has further strengthened his political base ahead of 2026, drawing fresh waves of endorsements from communities and stakeholders who see his administration as a model of inclusive leadership and continuity.
