Hon. Akinlayo Rallies Ekiti Voters to Re-Elect Oyebanji, Afuye

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Davidson Akinlayo, has urged voters in Ekiti State to return Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, for a second term, citing what he described as steady leadership and measurable development across the state.

Hon. Akinlayo, who represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, made the call on Monday, framing the next governorship contest as a choice between continuity and disruption. He said the Oyebanji–Afuye partnership has provided direction in governance and kept projects on course in critical sectors.

“The state cannot afford to slow down at this stage,” he said, pointing to road construction, public sector reforms and targeted social interventions as signs of policy focus. “What we have today is a government that listens, plans and executes.”

The lawmaker argued that the alliance between Mr Oyebanji and Mrs Afuye has stabilised the political climate in Ekiti and reduced friction within government. According to him, that cohesion has translated into quicker decision-making and improved service delivery.

He also linked the administration’s record to grassroots engagement, saying town hall meetings and stakeholder consultations have shaped budget priorities and influenced development planning.

Hon. Akinlayo appealed directly to party supporters and undecided voters, asking them to “protect the progress already made” by voting for the governor and his deputy when the time comes. He maintained that a second term would allow the administration to complete ongoing infrastructure projects and expand economic programmes designed to attract investment and create jobs.

The appeal signals early political mobilisation ahead of the next electoral cycle in Ekiti, with allies of the governor increasingly closing ranks and projecting continuity as their central message.

For now, Hon. Akinlayo insists the choice before voters is straightforward: sustain the current direction or risk starting afresh.
