Ifedayo Agoro, Frank Itom Turn Edo Tradition Into a Royal Statement at #InSync2025 Wedding
Ifedayo Agoro, the writer and media personality known as Diary of a Naija Girl, and her partner, Frank Itom, brought Edo culture into sharp focus on Saturday as their traditional wedding unfolded in a display of fashion, symbolism and quiet royalty that held attention from the first appearance.
The Edo themed ceremony, part of the couple’s multi layered wedding celebration tagged #InSync2025, centred culture rather than spectacle. From colour choices to styling, every detail spoke deliberately to Benin heritage, with fashion used as both identity and storytelling.
Ms Agoro appeared in a fully beaded crimson gown that drew from traditional Benin aesthetics while maintaining a modern silhouette. The off shoulder design hugged closely, with dense beadwork flowing across the dress and finishing in layered fringe details that moved with her steps. Her look was anchored by the okuku, the traditional Benin ceremonial hairstyle reserved for brides and women of status, signalling wealth, marriage and lineage. Multiple strands of coral beads around her neck and wrists completed the ensemble, reinforcing the regal tone of the moment.
Mr Itom, who hails from Edo State, matched her presence with a look that leaned firmly into royal tradition. He wore a flowing crimson agbada detailed with gold beadwork along the edges and sleeves. Beneath it sat a crisp white inner garment, paired with a deep burgundy velvet wrapper that pooled neatly at the floor. Layers of coral beads and a white traditional cap tied the look together, creating balance rather than competition with his bride’s attire.
