“I’m a Mad Man Undergoing Treatment at Ogun Psychiatric Hospital,” Says Portable Amid Assault Case

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has sparked shockwaves across the nation with an outrageous claim that he is a mad man currently receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The musician made this revelation during an emotional outburst following his being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.

Portable’s statement came after reports of his involvement in a violent altercation with three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The incident unfolded in Ota, Ogun State, when the town planners, TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, arrived to conduct an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa. They reportedly encountered an elderly man, identified as Portable’s father, at the Odogwu Bar.

When the officials requested the approved building plan from the elderly man, he told them that his son was unavailable. Moments later, Portable appeared on the scene, allegedly armed with a firearm and accompanied by a gang of nine thugs. The singer and his crew attacked the unarmed officials, causing bodily injuries, though the officials managed to escape and report the incident to the police.

The Ogun State Police quickly escalated the case, resulting in the arrest of nine of Portable’s associates. However, the singer himself fled the scene and has remained in hiding since the incident.

In a series of Instagram rants on Tuesday, Portable responded to the police’s declaration, claiming that he was being framed for the attack. He alleged that his involvement was triggered by his wearing a vest featuring the face of Senator Adeola Solomon, also known as Yayi. The singer also revealed his mental health struggles, stating that he has been under psychiatric care at the Aro Hospital, where he takes regular medications.

“I fear the government. I am a federal liability. I am a madman, and I have medications that I take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients,” Portable claimed in the video, adding, “I am not a thief; I help people around me without even looking at their background.”

The bizarre turn of events has left many Nigerians questioning the truth behind Portable’s claims, adding fuel to the already ongoing controversy surrounding the singer’s erratic behavior and public persona. As the search for Portable continues, the situation is evolving, with both the police and the Ogun State government yet to make further statements regarding his arrest or the potential legal consequences he faces.

This incident highlights the growing concerns over celebrity conduct, mental health issues, and the accountability of public figures in Nigeria, fueling public discourse across various social media platforms. With Portable’s fate uncertain, only time will tell how this scandal will unfold.
