Mohamed Buba Marwa and the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council have thrown their weight behind the emergence of Idris Shuaibu as National Vice Chairman (North East) of the All Progressives Congress, describing his election as a defining moment for both the state and the region.
In a statement issued on Monday, the council said Shuaibu’s victory reflects deep-rooted trust earned through years of party building and political engagement across Adamawa and beyond. Marwa, who chairs the influential bloc, framed the development as more than a routine party reshuffle, calling it a strategic elevation at a time the North East needs cohesion and direction within the ruling party.
He pointed to Shuaibu’s tenure as Adamawa APC chairman as proof of his political stamina, citing his handling of internal tensions and his ability to unify competing interests in a volatile landscape. According to him, those experiences now place Shuaibu in a strong position to stabilise and strengthen the party’s operations across the North East.
Marwa did not hold back in his endorsement. He described Shuaibu as a “distinguished son of Adamawa” whose rise signals confidence from party stakeholders at both state and national levels. He added that the role demands more than party loyalty, stressing the need for strategic leadership that can translate political structure into electoral strength.
The council’s message also carried a clear political signal. It pledged full backing for Shuaibu as he joins the APC’s National Working Committee, a body central to shaping party direction ahead of future electoral cycles. The group said it would stand firmly behind him as he navigates the demands of the office.
The statement, signed by Ahmad I. Sajoh, head of media and publicity for the council, closed with prayers and a call for sustained unity within the party ranks.
For observers, the endorsement from Marwa-led elders adds weight to Shuaibu’s new position, reinforcing his authority within the North East and signalling a consolidation of support that could influence party dynamics in the months ahead.
