Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has named Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola the new Vice Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti, in a move expected to shape the institution’s next phase of growth and academic strengthening.
The governor’s approval takes effect immediately, placing the seasoned University of Ibadan academic at the helm as the tenure of the outgoing VC, Professor Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, winds down on January 6, 2026.
Omojola, an accomplished Professor of Animal Science with deep expertise in animal products, processing and food safety, currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ibadan. His career spans nearly three decades, marked by teaching, research, administration and international engagement.
Born in Usi Ekiti in 1962, Omojola completed his secondary education at Notre Dame College before heading to the University of Ibadan, where he earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral degrees in Animal Science. He joined the academic staff in 1997 as Lecturer II and rose to full Professorship in 2011.
His résumé includes a remarkable stretch of service: Visiting Professor at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana for six years, External Examiner for the Universities of Calabar and Osun, Head of the Animal Products and Processing Unit for over two decades, Director of the UI Teaching and Research Farm, longtime member of the UI Senate, and Chair of several academic committees.
With this appointment, Oyebanji expects the new VC to bring his administrative insight, scholarly depth and industry-facing experience to advance BOUESTI’s ambition to become a world-class institution. He congratulated Omojola and urged him to drive reforms that expand research capacity, improve learning outcomes and strengthen the university’s identity.
The governor also acknowledged Professor Adeoluwa for his service and steady leadership, noting that the university benefitted from his commitment during his tenure.
The appointment was announced by the governor’s media adviser, Olayinka Oyebode.
