The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council has endorsed the emergence of Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, describing his election as a decisive moment for the party’s direction and internal balance.
In a statement issued on Monday, the council, led by Mohamed Buba Marwa, said Yilwatda’s rise reflects years of political engagement and credibility built within party structures. It argued that his emergence did not come by chance but through sustained trust across different blocs of the ruling party.
Marwa positioned the development within a broader national context, noting that the APC faces a defining period that demands steady leadership and internal cohesion. He said Yilwatda’s background as a committed party man and administrator places him in a strong position to manage competing interests and reposition the party ahead of future political contests.
The council went further, urging party members to close ranks and rally behind the new chairman. It warned that internal divisions could weaken the party’s strength if not addressed early, stressing that unity remains critical to achieving both organisational stability and electoral success.
While congratulating Yilwatda, the elders also sent a clear signal of political alignment, pledging full support for his leadership. They said they would work closely with him to strengthen party structures and promote policies that reflect the interests of Nigerians.
The statement, signed by Ahmad I. Sajoh, head of media and publicity for the council, closed with prayers for a successful tenure.
