Architect Mobolaji Johnson Adeyeye, a Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Physical Planning, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his formal emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2026 election in Ekiti State.
Adeyeye, a grassroots political figure from Ayede South/Itaji Ward in Oye Local Government, described Oyebanji’s confirmation as “a triumph of competence and trust,” saying the governor’s endorsement by party delegates proved that performance still commands respect in politics.
Governor Oyebanji was confirmed on Monday during a consensus affirmation exercise at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, where 885 delegates from the 16 local government areas of the state unanimously backed him for a second term. The process was supervised by a 10-member committee led by Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, following the voluntary withdrawal of the only other cleared aspirant, Mrs Atinuke Omolayo.
Mobolaji Adeyeye praised the calm and unity that defined the exercise, saying it reflected the political maturity the APC had built under Oyebanji’s leadership. “This is not just an endorsement; it’s an expression of confidence from the grassroots. Governor Oyebanji has led with quiet strength and clear results. Ekiti is better because he understands governance beyond politics,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, and the party’s National Working Committee for steering the process in a manner that strengthened internal democracy within the APC.
According to him, the decision to rally behind Oyebanji was a practical step towards stability ahead of the 2026 election. “We are united because we can see the work; roads, infrastructure, community projects, youth empowerment. This victory is a call to continue, not to celebrate too early,” Adeyeye added.
He urged party members to sustain the peace and discipline that have defined the Oyebanji administration, noting that unity remains the APC’s strongest asset in Ekiti.
Governor Oyebanji, in his acceptance remarks, thanked the delegates and party leaders for their trust, pledging to consolidate the gains of his administration and deepen his commitment to service.
Oyebanji’s confirmation has now set the tone for what political observers describe as a defining contest in Ekiti’s 2026 governorship race, with the APC betting on continuity and cohesion to maintain its grip on the state.
