Architect Mobolaji Johnson Adeyeye, Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Physical Planning, has hailed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for completing the last phase of the Ekiti Agro Allied International Airport and opening it for commercial flight operations.
He said the launch of scheduled flights on 10 December signals a major leap in Ekiti’s economic direction and shows the state’s readiness for broader investment opportunities.
Arc. Adeyeye traced the project’s roots to former Governor Kayode Fayemi, who began the airport’s development and inaugurated its core infrastructure. He noted that Fayemi designed the facility to support cargo aircraft and stimulate growth in agriculture, commerce, tourism and education, even though some key components still required completion.
He said Governor Oyebanji delivered those outstanding elements with clarity and focus, enabling commercial airlines to commence operations without delay.
According to him, the achievement stands as evidence of effective policy continuity, a principle Ekiti has long championed.
Arc. Adeyeye also recognised the roles of engineers, aviation regulators, contractors and federal agencies that contributed to the airport’s progress through various development stages.
He congratulated Ekiti residents for their patience and support, adding that the new flight operations will boost agro-export potential, expand tourism traffic and strengthen local businesses.
Arc. Adeyeye said the airport’s full activation marks the start of a wider economic shift for Ekiti and positions the state for long term growth.
