The Arewa Community in Ekiti State has endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second terms in office, throwing its weight behind both leaders ahead of the state’s governorship election and the next presidential poll.

The endorsement came during an interactive session organised by the Governor of Kaduna State and National Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for the Ekiti Governorship Election, Senator Uba Sani.

Representing Senator Sani at the event, the Kaduna State APC Chairman, Mr Atiku Sankey, said Governor Oyebanji had earned the confidence of northern residents through policies that promote inclusion, fairness and equal opportunities for all residents, regardless of their ethnic background.

Mr Sankey said the governor had demonstrated a practical commitment to the welfare of non indigenes living in Ekiti, pointing to the allocation of land for the Hausa Market in Ado Ekiti, the appointment of members of the northern community into political offices, and the recruitment of qualified northerners into the state public service.

According to him, the governor’s approach to governance has strengthened peaceful coexistence and reinforced confidence among northern communities across the state.

He urged members of the Hausa Community and other northern ethnic groups resident in Ekiti to support Governor Oyebanji’s re election bid with their votes, describing it as an opportunity to sustain a government that recognises and values every resident.

Several northern political figures attended the meeting, including Senator Binta Garba, Mrs Yetunde Adeniji and Senator Yerima. Also present was the Special Assistant to the Governor on Hausa Matters, Mr Hussein Bawa, who appealed to members of the Arewa Community across Ekiti to mobilise support for the governor during the election.

Leaders of different northern ethnic groups also spoke at the gathering, sharing accounts of what they described as the positive impact of the Oyebanji administration on their communities.

They said the government had created an environment where non indigenes enjoy a sense of belonging and equal participation in the affairs of the state, irrespective of ethnicity or religion.

The meeting ended with a unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji for second terms in office, as members of the Arewa Community pledged to support both leaders at the polls.
