Former federal lawmaker, Segun Adekola has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State to drop their long-running disputes and rally behind the party’s new reconciliation drive, warning that disunity threatens the PDP’s chances ahead of the coming governorship contest.
Speaking during a series of engagements with party blocs, Adekola pressed leaders and grassroots organisers to commit to a clean break from factional fights that have slowed the party’s momentum. He said the PDP cannot afford another cycle of internal bickering when the stakes in the next election demand clarity, cohesion, and discipline.
Adekola threw his weight behind the party’s governorship flagbearer, Wole Oluyede, describing him as a grounded technocrat with the temperament and competence to reset Ekiti’s governance climate. He urged members across the wards to back Dr Oluyede without hesitation, noting that united support remains the only path to electoral strength.
He appealed to aggrieved groups to return to the table, embrace forgiveness, and give the reconciliation team the space to rebuild trust. According to him, the party’s success in the coming polls rests on the willingness of every member to show loyalty, close ranks, and put the party’s fortunes above personal grievances.
Adekola said the weeks ahead will test the resolve of the PDP family, but insisted that victory becomes realistic when the party speaks with one voice, organises with clear purpose, and campaigns with an undivided front.
