The campaign organisation of Ekiti North senatorial aspirant, Otunba Oluwadare Owolabi, has dismissed reports suggesting that Cyril Fasuyi has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the district ahead of the next general election.
In a statement released by the Irawo Owuro Campaign Team, the group described the circulating claims as misleading and premature, insisting that the party has yet to conclude its internal processes for selecting a candidate for the Ekiti North senatorial seat.
The campaign said aspirants across the district remain actively engaged in consultations with party leaders and stakeholders, in line with the political tradition of the APC. According to the statement, no aspirant can legitimately claim consensus status until the party formally concludes its nomination procedures.
The team also pointed to the timetable already issued by the party for its internal electoral process. Under the schedule, the APC will conduct its primary elections between 23 April and 30 May 2026, a process expected to determine candidates for various elective positions ahead of the polls.
Supporters of Otunba Owolabi urged party members and residents of the senatorial district to disregard what they described as unfounded narratives circulating in political circles.
They maintained that the APC remains guided by due process and internal democracy, expressing confidence that party members would determine the eventual candidate through the officially recognised channels.
Otunba Owolabi, popularly known among supporters as “Ìràwọ̀ Òwúrọ̀”, has been consulting widely across communities in Ekiti North as aspirants position themselves for the party’s forthcoming primary election.
