Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has expressed grief over the death of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of ex-Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
In a statement released on Sunday, Fayemi said the loss strikes beyond the El-Rufai family, reflecting the passing of a woman whose life left visible imprints on those around her. He pointed to her values—discipline, faith, and commitment to community—as qualities that shaped her family and resonated through her son’s years in public office.
“I received with deep sadness the news of her passing,” Fayemi said, noting that while her death brings pain, her life offers a record of purpose and influence that endures.
He described Hajiya Umma as a steady moral force within her family and community, adding that her legacy lives on through the principles she upheld and instilled.
Fayemi also reached out directly to Nasir El-Rufai and the wider family, urging them to draw strength from her life and the memories she leaves behind.
He prayed for her soul, asking Allah to grant her Aljannah Firdaus and comfort those she left behind.
