Not every hairstylist can say their journey began straight out of secondary school, but that’s the story of Helen Alao, the creative force behind HelenBeauty Place. In 2018, while many were still figuring out their next step, she was already learning the art of hairdressing. By 2023, she took things further, upgrading her skills during her Undergraduate days at Oye Ekiti to sharpen her craft. Today, HelenBeauty Place has become a go-to hub for both men and women looking to keep their hair fresh, stylish, and on point.

From braids, twists, cornrows, stitches, Ghana weaving, suku, relaxer treatments, natural hair weaving, invisible weaving, to full-on wash days, the salon is all about versatility. It’s the kind of spot where your little brother can get a clean cornrow look while you sit pretty getting Ghana weaving done; one roof, all styles, no stress.

But behind the braids and beauty, Helen’s story is also about persistence. Building a network of loyal customers hasn’t been easy, but her consistency, dedication, and flair for detail are slowly turning first-time clients into regulars. Every hairstyle is treated like a signature; personal, stylish, and crafted to last.

HelenBeauty Place isn’t just a salon, it’s a space where self-expression happens strand by strand. Whether you’re preparing for a big event, refreshing your natural look, or just craving that “new hair, new me” vibe, Helen and her hands of magic are ready to transform you.

Beautigail Essentials

Some businesses are born out of strategy; others are born out of love. For Funmilayo Asanre, founder of Beautigail Essentials, it was both—love for beauty, creativity, and the family push that transformed a passion into a brand where every look becomes a memorable statement.

Funmilayo Asanre -Founder, Beautigail Essentials

Funmilayo Asanre – Founder, Beautigail Essentials

Her journey began in 2013 with a natural love for everything hair and beauty. In 2015, just three months into university, her school went on strike. Instead of waiting idly, she used that break to sharpen her hair-making skills with the encouragement of her mum and sister. That decision became the foundation of her career. Shortly after, her boss encouraged her to explore makeup artistry. Funmilayo embraced the challenge, and it expanded her craft into a new dimension.

Balancing classes and building a business was demanding, but consistency carried her through. Each client, each gele, each face beat became part of her story. Over the years, Funmilayo established Beautigail Essentials as a trusted name, known for flawless makeup looks, elegant gele styling, and braided wigs that combine beauty with convenience. She continues to nurture her dream of expanding into selling makeup and hair products, building a complete beauty experience for her clients.

Creativity defines her work. Funmilayo gives each client a look that reflects their personality and leaves them confident and radiant. She attributes her gift to God’s grace, affirming that it is the true source of her success. Her services reach women from all walks of life, brides on their wedding day, celebrants stepping out in style, professionals seeking polish, and everyday women who want to feel beautiful effortlessly.

A defining milestone in her journey was winning the GeleExpo Competition, an achievement that validated her craft and introduced her work to a wider audience. For Funmilayo, it was more than a trophy,it was confirmation that her brand had a place on the big stage.

To experience the work of Beautigail Essentials:

With Funmilayo Asanre at the helm, beauty becomes more than appearance. it becomes an experience of memorable statement, creativity, and confidence.

Mega Real Estate Projects Reshaping Lagos: What Every Investor Should Know

Lagos Skyline View by Meta AI

Lagos is not just expanding — it’s transforming. From Eko Atlantic’s ocean-reclaimed skyline to emerging digital cities in Ibeju-Lekki, Nigeria’s commercial capital is undergoing one of the largest property evolutions on the continent. Driven by infrastructural upgrades, foreign direct investment, and deliberate urban planning, these projects are altering the real estate landscape and opening fresh opportunities for smart investors.

Eko Atlantic: Land from Water, City from Vision

Eko Atlantic is no longer a speculative fantasy. Built on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean, the city now hosts fully operational office towers, luxury apartments, foreign consulates, and paved boulevards. Strategically positioned beside Victoria Island, the city is designed to be self-sustaining — complete with independent power, water, drainage and security systems.

While prices are on the high side, investor interest remains strong. Property values here have seen year-on-year growth, supported by steady migration from overstretched urban cores and global interest from multinational companies seeking Nigerian headquarters.

Lekki-Epe Axis: Lagos’ New Economic Spine

The Lekki-Epe corridor has become the focal point of new real estate activity. The completion of the Lekki Deep Sea Port and continued development of the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) have turned what used to be a sleepy stretch of land into a magnet for both residential and industrial development.

Multiple housing estates, logistics parks, and tech villages are in development, with developers and investors keen to capitalise on growing demand from Nigeria’s rising middle class and returning diaspora. Access roads have seen significant upgrades, and connectivity to central Lagos is steadily improving.

Alaro City: A Masterplanned Urban Blueprint

Located within the LFTZ, Alaro City is one of the best-organised urban projects Lagos has seen. Backed by Rendeavour and the Lagos State Government, the city integrates residential, commercial, and light industrial zones in a carefully structured master plan.

Already home to multinational manufacturers, schools, and housing estates, Alaro City sets a new standard for long-term urban development in Nigeria. The emphasis on proper road layouts, renewable energy, and community services has made it attractive for both private buyers and institutional investors.

Gracefield Island: Innovation Meets Real Estate

Off the Chevron Drive area of Lekki, Gracefield Island is being promoted as a tech-forward residential hub. Unlike Eko Atlantic, Gracefield’s draw is not size but concept. The project is rooted in sustainable infrastructure — solar power, smart water systems, and digital connectivity.

Still under phased development, it is targeted at Nigeria’s growing population of remote workers, entrepreneurs, and digital professionals who seek modern, eco-conscious living.

Smart Cities and the Digital Lagos Dream

Real estate in Lagos is also adapting to technological shifts. Projects like Itunu City are embracing smart city models — facial recognition at entry points, fibre-optic cabling for high-speed internet, and green power solutions such as solar farms and battery storage.

This shift reflects a generational transition. Millennial and Gen Z investors, increasingly influential in the property market, are prioritising digital convenience, lifestyle amenities, and work-live-play environments over sheer square footage.

Caution Amid the Boom

While the momentum is undeniable, caution is still essential. Some projects make bold claims without delivering. Investors must verify land titles, ask for approvals from Lagos State’s physical planning authorities, and avoid one-size-fits-all promises. Speak to seasoned professionals, request on-site visits, and avoid deals that pressure for rushed payments.

Lagos’ mega real estate projects are not just changing its skyline — they’re rewriting the rules of property investment in Nigeria. For those willing to look beyond the legacy neighbourhoods, a new city is rising — smarter, faster, and full of potential.
