Hon. Bimpe Adeleke Empowers Ijero Ward B Residents with Tools, Cash

Hon. Adebimpe Adeleke, Special Adviser on Women’s Affairs in Ijero Local Government, has empowered residents of Ward B in Ijero Ekiti with work tools and cash support, in a move aimed at boosting small businesses and household incomes.

The empowerment programme, held in Ijero Ekiti, saw beneficiaries receive sewing machines, gas cylinders, grinding machines, frying pots and cash grants to help them start or expand their trades. The initiative targets self-reliance and practical livelihood support at the grassroots.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Adeleke said empowering people in her ward had been a long-held personal goal. She said she chose to focus on tools that could immediately translate into income and economic stability for families.

“This is about lifting people with what they can use daily to earn a living,” she said. “I wanted this phase to be bigger and more impactful than what we have done before.”

She linked the initiative to the leadership style of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, saying his encouragement of public office holders to serve their communities inspired her action. She also acknowledged the support of the First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, describing it as a motivation to give back locally.

Mrs Adeleke assured residents that the programme would continue, noting that more beneficiaries would be captured in subsequent phases.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Adetoun Agboola, praised the initiative, describing it as a clear example of people-focused governance. She said the empowerment reflected Governor Oyebanji’s development agenda and should serve as a model for other political appointees.

“She has always wanted to support the vulnerable in her ward,” Ms Agboola said. “This programme shows that service starts where you are.”

She urged beneficiaries to use the items responsibly to improve their standard of living.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant in the Governor’s Office, Ebenezer Ajayi, described the programme as timely and impactful. He said meaningful service should not wait for higher office, but should begin at any level of responsibility.
