The people of Ekiti North Federal Constituency II witnessed a groundbreaking moment over the weekend as their representative in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Akinlayo, spearheaded a wide-reaching empowerment initiative designed to uplift businesses, strengthen local enterprises, and provide critical relief to vulnerable groups.

From the bustling streets of Ido Osi to the rural communities of Moba and Ilejemeje, thousands gathered to benefit from a program that cut across healthcare, education, business support, and agricultural development. Residents expressed joy and gratitude as essential resources flowed into the hands of those who needed them most.

In a bid to improve healthcare accessibility, a free medical outreach brought health professionals to the doorstep of constituents, offering medical screenings and distributing life-saving medications. Elders, women, and children lined up as doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to ensure that no one was left out.

Recognizing the traditional institutions that bind communities together, Akinlayo provided direct financial support to 10 revered chiefs, including five female leaders, across the three local governments. In an economy where self-reliance is key, women took center stage as 200 sewing machines were distributed to aspiring and established fashion designers, equipping them with the tools to build sustainable businesses.

Farmers, the backbone of Ekiti’s economy, were not left behind. Hundreds of bags of fertilizers and essential farming equipment found their way into the hands of those who toil daily to feed the people. Small business owners, faced with persistent power challenges, received 100 generators to stabilize their ventures, while 150 grinding machines were given to women in local enterprises to enhance productivity.

For many families still reeling from the devastation of recent rainstorms, the provision of 500 bundles of iron sheets signaled a step toward rebuilding lives. Widows and elderly men, often sidelined in the rush for economic progress, received direct financial assistance, ensuring dignity and relief in their golden years.

Commercial motorcyclists, a vital force in the region’s transport network, rode home with brand new motorcycles, an investment in mobility and economic freedom. Education, a core pillar of Akinlayo’s vision, saw 750 undergraduates receive financial bursaries, while 19 outstanding students were rewarded with scholarships for their academic excellence. Secondary school students at Ikosu Grammar School also found hope in bursary support that promised to keep them on track.

The constituency’s beauty and fashion industry also felt the impact, with 50 hair dryers delivered to hairstylists eager to expand their businesses. Political party leaders, whose commitment fuels grassroots governance, were not forgotten as they received financial tokens and quality fabrics in appreciation of their service.

Speaking at the event, Akinlayo reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every corner of Ekiti North Federal Constituency II feels the pulse of democratic dividends. He acknowledged the unwavering support of the state’s leadership, thanking Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Deputy Governor Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye for their dedication to Ekiti’s progress. He also extended gratitude to party executives, community leaders, and supporters whose efforts made the program a resounding success.

As the sun set on a day filled with promise and renewed hope, one thing became clear Hon. Kolawole Akinlayo’s empowerment initiative was not just an event it was a bold statement of leadership, action, and an unwavering commitment to the people he serves.
