IIJ Students’ President, Seun Ayodele at Ilogbo Day

The Students’ President of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Abuja Ado-Campus, Comrade Seun Ayodele, has been honoured with the Award for Educational Innovation at the annual Ilogbo Day Celebration held on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The recognition, organised by the Ilogbo-Ekiti Descendants Union (IDU), celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to community and national development. Ayodele, a young innovator, was recognised for his invention of PEPSTUG, a learning tool designed to simplify English phonetics for students.

This is not the first time Ayodele has drawn attention for his creativity. In 2021, he received the Ekiti State Outstanding Youth Award, presented by former governor Kayode Fayemi, in acknowledgement of the same groundbreaking educational tool.

Speaking after receiving the award, Ayodele expressed gratitude to his community, mentors, and institution. “Special thanks to Dr. Awosusi Omojola, Global President of the Ilogbo-Ekiti Descendants Union, for his unwavering support; to my parents; and to the Institute I represent as Students’ President at the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, Ado-Ekiti Campus,” he said.

He dedicated the award to “hidden talents, mentees, and students across the world,” urging young people to bring their ideas into the open. “To everyone with gifts yet to be discovered, I charge you tonight: bring it out, the world is waiting for you,” he declared.

The Ilogbo Day Celebration, an annual cultural and community event, continues to serve as a platform for honouring achievements in education, innovation, and service. Ayodele’s recognition underscores the growing role of young Nigerians in shaping solutions to the country’s educational challenges.
