The New Broom Movement’s grassroots surge continued over the weekend as Ido/Osi Local Government became the latest stop in its fast-spreading political mobilisation across Ekiti State. On Sunday, 5 October 2025, ward coordinators and working committee members gathered at APC Ward 2 Secretariat, Omodewa Nursery & Primary School Close, Ido-Ekiti, in what observers described as one of the most spirited political meetings the area has witnessed in recent months and the history of the movement.
With chants of unity and purpose echoing through the venue, the ward meeting, presided over by Local Government Coordinator, Comrade Omoboye Akinola Ebenezer and State Coordinator, Hon. Ifeoluwa Bolarinde, reinforced a growing narrative: the New Broom is no longer a slogan; it is becoming a living force reshaping the party’s grassroots politics.
“I swore that the #NewBroom will raise leaders, not followers. We will protect the soul of our party. And together, we will shape the future of Ekiti, in particular the successor generation, with politics of values, unity and ideas. So help me God,” The coordinators declared, setting a defiant yet visionary tone.
What began in Ikere with a historic inaugural gathering has now grown into a statewide movement cutting through local governments week by week. From the iconic Baba Olumilua Hall in Ikere to Ootunja Town Hall in Ikole, where LG coordinators converged on 28 September for their first statewide meeting, the broom has swept deeper into the grassroots. Local governments such as Ekiti South-West, Moba, Irepodun/Ifelodun and Ijero have all hosted vibrant meetings, drawing unprecedented attendance from party officials and community leaders.
Sunday’s Ido/Osi meeting opened with member identification, reflecting the impressive turnout at the gathering. Comrade Omoboye Akinola Ebenezer delivered the opening address, outlining the movement’s vision, mission, and strict code of conduct expected of members. His speech set the stage for a disciplined, value-driven conversation that went beyond political rhetoric.
The working committee chairman later presented the vision of the movement, sparking a lively exchange of ideas among attendees. A goodwill message from the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Special interests,Hon. Segun Ajayi, further anchored the movement’s growing ties with the state leadership. Hon. Ifeoluwa Bolarinde, Chairman of the New Broom Planning Committee, followed with strategic remarks that drew strong applause.
Members seized the interactive session to ask pointed questions and seek clarifications, all of which received candid responses. Comrade Olori Eledumare closed the deliberations with a crisp recap, ensuring clarity on every major point raised.
Hon. Ifeoluwa Bolarinde rounded off the meeting with a charge for unity and commitment, before Comrade Victor Ayokunle Odukoya led the closing prayer.
The Ido/Osi gathering reflects how the New Broom Movement is quietly but steadily altering the rhythm of Ekiti’s internal party politics. What began as a rallying cry to “Recruit. Train. Mentor. Lead.” is fast transforming into a coordinated, value-driven mobilisation that blends political strategy with moral conviction.
