NPUGA 2025
Venite University will face Pan-Atlantic University and Gregory University in Group G of the 2025 Nigeria Private Universities Games Association (NPUGA) football competition, in a draw that sets up a fiercely contested path to the knockout stage.
The organisers announced the groupings through NPUGA’s media partner, TCL Global, on its WhatsApp channel, instantly stirring excitement across university communities and alumni groups. Supporters of the three Group G teams are already sizing up the opposition, with early talk of strategy and form taking shape ahead of fixture announcements.
The draw placed defending and rising sides in intriguing matchups across eight groups. Group A features Babcock University, Crawford University and Trinity University. Group B brings Chrisland University, Christopher University and Fountain University together. Group C pairs Western Delta University with Veritas University and Caleb University, while Group D pits Mountain Top University against Lead City University and Oduduwa University.
Group E lines up Afe Babalola University with McPherson University and JABU University. Group F includes Achievers University, Redeemer’s University and Ritman University. Group H sees Bells University drawn with Afelete University and Crescent University.
For Venite University, the Group G draw signals a test of depth, pace and tactical sharpness. The squad, which has been training for months in anticipation of the competition, is looking to translate preparation into performance on the pitch.
The university’s sports officer urged students, staff and alumni to rally behind the team. “This is our moment to make a statement,” one senior official said. “We want every supporter to wear our colours, follow the games closely and push our boys all the way.”
Fixtures and venues for the group matches will be confirmed in the coming weeks, with the NPUGA football tournament expected to draw packed crowds and a surge of online engagement as rivalries heat up.
