The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti North Constituency II, Hon. Ibrahim Kunle Olarewaju, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election, describing the victory as a historic milestone that has ended a three-decade political pattern in Ekiti State.
Hon Olarewaju said Governor Oyebanji’s victory across all 16 local government areas and 177 wards reflected widespread public confidence in his administration and its record over the last three and a half years.
In a statement issued after the declaration of the governorship election results, the former presidential aide said the governor had become the first democratically elected leader in Ekiti to secure two consecutive four-year terms under the same administration since the state’s creation in 1996.
According to him, the outcome has created the stability needed for long-term planning and sustained development.
“By securing this second consecutive term, Governor Oyebanji has rewritten the political history of our state. This record-breaking feat will not only sustain the socioeconomic progress recorded so far but will also strengthen the progressive ideals of the APC and deepen human capital development across the state,” he said.
Hon. Olarewaju also pointed to the final results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, noting that Governor Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to record what he described as the highest vote tally ever secured by a winning governorship candidate in Ekiti State.
He said the margin of victory demonstrated the governor’s popularity across the state and reflected the confidence voters placed in his leadership.
The APC chieftain congratulated the First Lady, Olayemi Oyebanji, saying her continued tenure would allow her office to expand programmes supporting women, widows, orphans, persons living with disabilities and vulnerable children.
Hon. Olarewaju also praised the leadership of the APC at both the national and state levels for what he described as disciplined party organisation that produced another electoral victory.
He recalled that the party had earlier made history when Governor Oyebanji succeeded former Governor Kayode Fayemi, the first successful transition between two APC governors in the state. He said the latest election had further strengthened the party’s place in Ekiti’s political history.
The House of Representatives candidate also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the election.
Describing the outcome as a victory for the people of Ekiti, Hon. Olarewaju said the governor’s renewed mandate would guarantee continuity in governance, policy stability and sustained development across the state.
“This unprecedented victory is not just for the Governor or the party. It is a victory for assured sustainability, policy consistency and tangible development in Ekiti State. The Ekiti of our collective dreams is now firmly on course with this renewed mandate,” he said.
