Ekiti State Governor’s Special Assistant on New Media, Adesoji Gabriel, widely known as AngelGabby, has added a new professional milestone to his profile with his formal induction into the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON), a move that underscores his growing influence beyond the media space.

The induction took place at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) during FISON’s professional membership programme, which brought together leading experts and practitioners to promote excellence, research, and sustainable practices in Nigeria’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.

Gabriel, a trained fisheries specialist, holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ekiti State University (EKSU) and a Master’s in Aquaculture from FUOYE. He is currently pursuing his PhD in the same field, alongside furthering his journalism education at the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Abuja (Ado-Ekiti Campus), reflecting his relentless pursuit of knowledge and professional development.

Speaking after the ceremony, Gabriel described the recognition as both an honour and a responsibility. “Joining FISON isn’t just symbolic. It’s a platform to influence national conversations around fisheries, research, and sustainable agriculture,” he said. He noted that the membership would deepen his role in policy advocacy and strengthen his ability to leverage media for promoting sustainable food systems in Nigeria.

Beyond his duties in government, Gabriel has carved a niche as a creative voice in Ekiti’s digital media landscape, blending communication strategy with technical expertise in fisheries.

FISON stands as the umbrella body for fisheries and aquaculture practitioners nationwide, driving innovation, research, and sustainable resource management.

Gabriel’s induction reflects the evolving intersection between governance, science, and media, a space where his voice continues to grow louder and more influential.
