Princess Adetoun Agboola Named Among Nigeria’s 100 Most Admirable Educators for 2025

Princess Adetoun Funmilayo Agboola, Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Special Education and Social Inclusion, has been named among Nigeria’s 100 Most Admirable Schools, Teachers and Educators (M.A.S.T.E.R.S) Class of 2025, in recognition of her groundbreaking work in inclusive education and disability advocacy.

The award, organised by Thesis Education Group, spotlights educators and institutions driving innovation and transforming Nigeria’s education landscape through bold ideas and sustained impact.

For more than two decades, Princess Agboola has led a quiet but powerful revolution in special education. With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Special Education from the University of Ibadan and a Cambridge International Certificate in Educational Leadership, she has combined academic expertise with hands-on policy work to expand access to quality education for children with disabilities.

As Special Adviser, she has spearheaded landmark reforms in Ekiti State, from enforcing disability laws to establishing Nigeria’s first public inclusive school and creating a state therapy centre for children with profound disabilities. She championed mandatory pre-enrolment assessments and classroom accommodations, initiatives that have improved learning outcomes and strengthened the state’s special schools.

Her work extends beyond public service. As Founder and Director of Plumcare Educational Services, she pioneered early identification and intervention systems for children with special needs and designed training programmes that have reshaped how teachers approach inclusive classrooms.

Her leadership has earned her national and international recognition as one of Nigeria’s most respected voices on disability inclusion and equitable education.

Speaking on the award, Mr Bosman Adedokun, Chief Executive Officer of Thesis Education Group, said the 100 M.A.S.T.E.R.S initiative was created to recognise and connect trailblazers shaping the future of education in Nigeria and across Africa. He described Princess Agboola and other honourees as “the vanguard of innovation, dedication and transformation in Nigeria’s education sector.”
